Join The City!
Grace Covenant Church uses a really great web tool in order to stay connected with each other. It’s called “The City”.
What’s The City?
Glad you asked. The City is a personalized social networking website (kind of like Facebook) for GCC. We use The City to schedule events, help teams organize and plan, and enable Home Groups to communicate with each other and pray for one another.
1. The first thing you need to do is create an account. (The City will use your email address to get you registered).
2. The second thing to do is personalize your account. (This is a great way to introduce yourself to other people and for you to get to know them).
Here are some important things to do. Upload a picture of yourself. The City serves as our church directory. This allows us to get to know one another better by putting a face with a name. Since each member of the family over the age of 13 should have their own “City” account, make sure your picture is a close up of you, not a family photo. Next, provide contact information if you’d like, and specify “skills” that will be useful as you get more involved. Finally, make sure you set your email settings to determine how you would like to receive information from people in the church.
After you’ve set up and personalized your account, it’s time to join some groups. Everyone who has an account on The City is automatically placed in the main Grace Covenant Church group. However, you will find that there are many more groups you can join in The City that will help you connect with others. For example, if you have young children you may want to join “Kids of Grace”. This is a group that keeps parents informed about what is happening with our children’s ministries. If you enjoy discussing doctrine you may want to join the “Doctrinal Discussion Den”. This is a place where theological questions are asked and worked through with elders/pastors of Grace.
