Doctrinal Identity
We stand in the stream of historic Christian orthodoxy and the Protestant Reformation. This means we have a lineage that connects us, through adherence to the sound apostolic teaching found in the Bible, to biblical, evangelical churches throughout history.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is central to our faith and worship and we believe the Scriptures are inspired, sufficient, and the only infallible rule of faith.
Our understanding of Scripture is shaped and summarized by the Church’s creeds and confessions, including the Apostles’ Creed, Nicene Creed, Chalcedon Definition, and the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith (1689), which we hold as our primary doctrinal standard.
We are Bible-based and centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ, and we gladly affirm to the tenant of the Five Solas of reformed theology (Scripture Alone, Faith Alone, Grace Alone, Christ Alone, to the Glory of God Alone) as our framework for understanding the gospel.
What We Believe
BIBLE
We believe the Bible to be the verbally inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, and the complete revelation of God’s will for salvation and the highest authority for the Christian life in matters of faith and doctrine. Therefore, it is to be believed in all it teaches, obeyed in all it requires, and trusted in all it promises.
2 Timothy 3:16 & Proverbs 30:5
GOD
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Psalm 90:2 & Matthew 28:19
JESUS CHRIST
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal, tangible, return in power and glory.
John 1:1-5 & Romans 1:3-4
SALVATION
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. We believe that the salvation of humankind is by grace through faith in the finished work of Christ alone.
Ephesians 2:8-9 & Titus 3:5
HOLY SPIRIT
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
Acts 1:8 & 1 Corinthians 2:12
RESURRECTION
We believe in the resurrection of the body of the saved and lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
John 5:25-29 & 1 Thessalonians 5:15-17
UNITY
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Christ.
Psalm 133:1 & Ephesians 4:3
